ND Marketplace is an on-line aggregation of products and services. Most of these services are offered exclusively to students, faculty, and staff of the University of Notre Dame, although some are offered to the general public. What follows is ND Marketplace's online privacy policy, which governs personal information gathered solely at its Internet sites: marketplace.nd.edu/ and shop.nd.edu/.
Protecting the privacy and personal data of our customers is of the utmost importance to us. This page describes how we handle the information we learn about you when you visit our site. Physical, electronic and managerial procedures have been employed to safeguard the security and integrity of personal information.
If you visit our website to browse, read, or download information, ND Marketplace automatically collects and stores: the name of the domain and host from which you access the Internet, the Internet protocol address of the computer you are using, the browser software you use, the date and time you access our site, the amount of time spent on a given page, and referring pages (including the Internet site from which you linked directly to our site and the click-stream between pages within our site).
We use this information only as anonymous aggregate data to determine the number of visitors to different sections of our website, to ensure the site is working properly, and to make our site more useful. We do not use it to track information about individuals.
If you choose to identify yourself by making a purchase on-line, ND Marketplace will create or collect the following personal information: unique customer ID, name, e-mail address, phone number, billing information, shipping information, and the store in which you were shopping. Credit card numbers are not stored by ND Marketplace, but rather are collected, transmitted, and processed by Touchnet Information Systems, a Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliant 3rd party service provider, using industry standard AES128 encryption.
Each storefront operator within ND Marketplace may exercise the option to request additional information to facilitate the completion of your order, to provide discounts, or for other relevant business purposes. Such information is provided voluntarily by you during the checkout process.
ND Marketplace does not knowingly collect or maintain any personal information from children under the age of 13 and will not make sales to children under 13. In addition, no part of our site is designed with the purpose of attracting any person under age 13.
Unless you otherwise consent, we will use your personal information only for the purpose for which it is submitted, such as to process billing and shipment of merchandise, reply to your emails, handle your complaints, etc. We will also use such information for internal research to better tailor our products to the needs of our customers. Our research may lead to the publication of aggregate demographic data but will not result in the reporting or publication of any personal information provided to us.
The information stored by ND Marketplace is transmitted using industry standard AES128 encryption. Information is stored both within the Touchnet Certified Data Center and the University of Notre Dame data center using the same safeguards used to protect the University's most sensitive data. Again, credit card numbers are not stored by ND Marketplace, but rather are securely transmitted for processing to Touchnet, a 3rd party payment gateway, using industry standard AES128 encryption.
We will never sell or rent your personal information.
In order to process a complaint, ND Marketplace may send the complaint to the vendor of the merchandise complained of, handle it internally, or refer the complaint to another appropriate organization for handling. By completing a complaint form provided by a storefront operator or sending us a request or inquiry, you are allowing us to forward your information to the appropriate vendor, if necessary. Without submission of the requested information, we will not be able to process your complaint.
Our web sites are not used to track, collect, or distribute personal information not entered by visitors. Our site logs do generate usage data such as the number of hits and visits to our sites. This information is used for internal purposes by technical support staff to provide better services to the public and may also be provided to others, but again, all shared information is devoid of personal information and cannot be used to construct such information.
A cookie is a small amount of data that is sent to your browser from a Web server and stored on your computer's hard drive. ND Marketplace does not require you to enable cookies in order to browse our site. However, cookies are required in order to complete an online purchase. This cookie only manages session data, and is deleted once your browser is closed. ND Marketplace cookies do not generate personal data and do not read personal data from your machine.
Because of the limited manner in which we collect and use information, access to the site constitutes agreement to our privacy policy, which may be changed from time to time without notice.
If you have a question or complaint about compliance with this privacy policy, or about any of your personal information which we maintain, please contact us.
